Admission of 22 New Monks

A Group Photo after receiving Novice Vows

It is truly a great pleasure to inform all our dear dharma friends that on April 12, 2021, we officially admitted a group of 22 students from various parts of the country. This afternoon, the chief abbot of the monastery, Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kunga Dhondup la bestowed novice vows to them. During the program, Khen Rinpoche cut their hair, presented them gifts, new robes, names and given them some very basic teachings like staying away from stealing, lying and consuming alcohol etc. We heartily welcome them to the monastery once again and wish them meaning life and wonderful time ahead.

Health Talk on COVID-19

Dr. Martijn Geilen expressing His Views

On April 10, 2021, after the morning school assembly, our long time friend cum sponsor of the monastery, honorable Dr. Martijn Geilen la from the Netherlands gave a health talk on Coronavirus to the school family members upon the request of the monastery office. In his speech, he talked on how this disease gets spread and stressed on the importance of abiding all safety measures to protect oneself and all from this deadly disease. At the end, the monastery principal, Venerable Lama Ngawang Tashi la thanked Mr. Martijn la on behalf of all Pema Ts’alians by presenting a ceremonial scarf and a thangka of the great dharma king, Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen for his time, talk and unwavering supporting to the monks’ health and education.

41st Social Service Day

On September 24, 2020, on the occasion of the 41st Social Service Day, a team consisted of Venerable Lama Tashi Wangyal la(director), Lama Lekshey Phuntsok la(foo manger) and Mr. Lobsang Tsering la(secretary) visited a Nepali old aged home named “Pokhara Aged Shelter” and handed over ration and fruits worth NRs27,110 to the office staff in presence of the old aged people living there. We have learned that currently there are 70 people including the staff members.

Khenpo Kunga la’s 53rd Birthday Celebration & College Building Inauguration

On the 28th of July, 2020, auspicious occasion of Tashi Sojong(mid way of the Rainy Season Retreat) we celebrated the 53rd Birthday of Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kunga Dhondup la according to the traditional and modern way of celebration. The monks performed the Three Long-life Deities Puja in the morning followed by cake cutting ceremony. On this very auspicious day, our newly built College Building was inaugurated by honorable Mr. Jamyang Dradul la, a member of parliament from Mustang district to Gandaki Province.

Lock Down Messages from the Visiting School Teachers

As we all are well aware of, COVID-19 pandemic lock down was commenced in Nepal on the 24th of March, 2020. Since then, our visiting school teachers have been not able to come to school for teachings to their beloved students though they strongly wish to due to the restrictions posed by Nepal Government. In the meantime, all 11 visiting teachers have sent messages to the monastery/school family especially to their lovely students expressing their love, giving pieces of valuable advice and sending prayers and hopes for reunion as early as possible.

Dharma Talk on Sakya Dawa

The fourth month of the Tibetan Lunar Calendar, “Saka Dawa” is the holiest month in Buddhism. In this month, the Buddha was Born, Enlightened, and passed away into Nirvana. One good deed is multiplied by a-100 thousand time especially on the Full Moon Day. On this happy and auspicious occasion as per our annual academic calendar, we have been organizing a religious talk on this very extraordinary month from the last many years. This year on June 8, Monday, Venerable Lopoen Lekshey Tenpa la spoke on its history and importance.

College Library Inaugural

On the 2nd of May, 2020, the monastery abbot, Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kunga Dhondup la consecrated and inaugurated the library which is built especially for our college students and those who are interested in learning Buddhism. As an auspicious beginning, Khenpo Rinpoche la also bestowed a dharma talk on Parting from the Four Attachments to all college students. The attendees were also offered tea and ceremonial rice.

Vairochana and Vajrapani Retreat

On the 25th of April, 2020, our college student, Venerable Jampa Choedhar la has completed a three months long Vairochana Retreat whereas a group of other college monks have completed a month long Vajrapani Retreat by taking an advantage of the nationwide lock down due to COVID-19. They performed the Fire Pujas separately on the Final Day assisted by the senior monastery abbot, Venerable Khenpo Kunga Dhondup la. The monastery office heartily congratulate all who sat for these two important retreats in strengthening their spiritual practices and best wishes for their spiritual lives.

COVID-19 Support for Pema Ts’al Monastery

On the 24th of April, Friday, Pema Ts’al Sakya Monastery was provided relief supplies in the on-going COVID-19 pandemic by Himalaya Asia Foundation. The Foundation has kindly donated us 450kgs of rice(18 sacks) and 150kgs of wheat flour. The monastery is very thankful to the Foundation and its director, Dr. Suzan ji for supporting the Monastery at this difficult time.

COVID-19 Donation to Gandaki Province

On behalf of Pema Ts’al Sakya Monastery, its director Venerable Lama Tashi Wangyal la and principal Venerable Lama Ngawang Tashi la visited the secretariat of Gandaki Province on the 21st of April, 2020, Tuesday. They presented the letters expressing sympathy and solidarity to the people of Nepal and a donation of Nepali rupees fifty-five thousand five hundred fifty-five(55,555) in the hands of honorable chief minister, Mr. Prithvi Subbha Gurung to support the most needy people including who solely depends on day’s wages at this COVID-19 pandemic.
