College

After completing a cycle of monastic trainings and basic level education (class VIII) at our Pema Ts’al Sakya Monastic Basic School for the period of eight to ten years, our monks start the Buddhist philosophical studies for the next ten years. They are presented with the title Kachupa (equivalent to Bachelor in Arts) and Lopoen (equivalent to Master in Arts) after studying rigorously for eight and ten years respectively. If they study further more for 3 years, they are presented with the title Rapjampa (equivalent to Doctor of Philosophy), the highest monastic degree. As of now, Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph. D) is not possible at our institution and any other places of Nepal. One needs to go to India to do this highest level of studies. Presently, we have 25 impoverished students doing the philosophical studies under the guidance of 3 philosophy teachers led by Venerable Khenpo Jampa Dhakpa la.
